Overview

Framing financial decision-making.

Vault Pay is a personal finance product designed to support everyday money management, from sending payments to tracking investments, without overwhelming users with data or choice.

My role.

As Senior Product Designer, I led the work end to end, from early discovery through interaction design and visual refinement, shaping core flows across payments, investments, and account management.

Team & tools.

I partnered closely with a Product Manager and engineers, collaborating through Figma, FigJam, and iterative prototyping to align quickly and validate decisions early.

Project scope.

Over five months, the project focused on streamlining high-frequency actions like payments, investments, and net worth tracking, deliberately choosing clarity over feature expansion.

My Impact

Reducing hesitation and friction.

The Process

Decisions shaped by constraint.

The design process was iterative and analytical, shaped by continuous evaluation of how users interpreted information and made decisions. Progress came from narrowing focus and refining structure rather than adding features.

Research and discovery.

Early research revealed that users felt overwhelmed less by the amount of financial data and more by uncertainty around prioritization. When multiple actions were presented without clear hierarchy, users hesitated, especially across payments and investments. This insight reframed the problem from “show more information” to “guide better decisions.”

Exploration and iteration.

Usability testing & refinement.

"Instead of pausing to figure out what to do, users moved forward with confidence because the structure made priorities obvious."

Lessons Learned

What clarified the work.

This project reinforced the impact of thoughtful framing in complex financial environments. Clear structure and disciplined decision-making proved more effective than adding features or increasing detail.

Clear structure drives better decisions.

Users didn’t need more information to feel confident, they needed clearer signals. By intentionally ranking actions and information, the interface reduced hesitation without adding instruction. Hierarchy became an implicit guide, helping users move forward with less cognitive effort.

Restraint strengthens long-term trust.

The hardest decisions involved what not to include, especially in a domain where more data often feels safer. Maintaining focus required resisting feature expansion and visual density in favor of predictability and calm. That restraint ultimately produced a more durable experience.
